The Quarter Finals

Diary

Our final two matches were the quarter finals between England and France and New Zealand against Argentina, both at Eden Park. As usual our coach parked in Cabbage Tree Swamp Road, meaning that we had no problem remembering where it was. For both games we had to climb the seemingly never ending stairs up to the top of the extended grandstands, though this did give us great views of any kicks at goal.

The England v France game was disappointing and the coaches back were more than a little subdued on the way back to hotel, but this did raise the question of whether the England team would end up on our flight home - The ladies in the group seemed the keenest for that to be true.

New Zealand v Argentina had an amazing atmosphere and watching the All Blacks performing the Haka with thousands of Kiwis chanting along was spine tingling. The game got off to a slow start, with Argentina holding on, but after half-time, the All Blacks let rip and ran away deserved winners.

Completing our Round-the World trip we flew home via Hong Kong. At Auckland airport we did see many of the England team including Martin Johnson and Jonny Wilkinson, but were disappointed to find that they were flying the other way home via LA. Our stop-over in Hong Kong was a little more relaxed and allowed us to visit the duty free.
